Rudolf Junk was born on 23.February 1880 in Vienna. He studied at the University of Vienna and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna; 1924-43 he was the Director of the Graphic Training and Research Institute in Vienna. Junk concentrated especially on designing bibliophile editions and worked from 1909 on for the Austrian State Printing House as a commercial artist (securities, mail and stamps). The printmaker and woodcut artist showed himself in all his diversity, as an oil painter with pointillist landscapes and as a craftsman with an embroidered Kunstbehang.1909-22 he became a member of the Hagenbund. Rudolf Junk died on the 20th of December 1943 in Rekawinkel near Vienna.
