GURSCHNER HERBERT
Innsbruck 1901 - 1975 London
Herbert Gurschner was born on August 27, 1901 in Innsbruck. He attended the State Trade School in Innsbruck and the painting school Walter Thor in Munich. From 1920 on he lived in Innsbruck Mühlau and presented together with the other artists of the "Mühlauer circle", Nepo, Schnegg, and Lehnert. He made numerous trips to Italy, Spain, and France, exhibited at the Venice Biennale and completed an acclaimed solo exhibition at London Fine Art Society in 1929. He lived from numerous portrait commissions and perverse characterized in nobility, diplomatic, and business circles. In 1938 he moved to London, where he turned to stage design and worked for the Covent Garden Opera, the Globe, and Hammersmith Theatre. Herbert Gurschner died on the 10th of January 1975 in London.
