St.Martin bei Lofer 1887 - 1930 Wien

Anton Faistauer was born on February 14, 1887 in St. Martin near Lofer in Salzburg . He attended the private painting school Scheffer in Vienna from 1904 to 1906 and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Travels took him several times to Italy and Germany. From 1919 on he lived in Salzburg, where he founded " Aquarius ", an artists' association. Already during his lifetime his works were exhibited and honored. Faistauer is beside Schiele, Kokoschka, and Boeckl one of the most important pioneers of modern painting in Austria. His art features bubbly fantasies, decorative skills, high color culture, and strong temperament. His biggest achievements lie in oil paintings mainly in portraits, landscapes, and still lives. Anton Fai died on the 13th of Februar 1930 in Vienna.
