ECKL VILMA

Enns 1892 - 1982 Linz

Vilma Eckl was born on 26 June 1892 in Lorch near Enns . She was educated at Berta from Tarnoczy, Rosa Scherer, and Tina Koffler in Linz . They went on study trips to Italy, Yugoslavia, Germany, and Switzerland. Besides the influence of the German Expressionism - especially the Munich group The Blue Rider – which she had applied to, but particularly the Linzer painting school of Matthias May was crucial to her artistic development. Eckl was a member of the Vienna Secession. In 1953 she was awarded the title of professor and the academics of Austria named her an honorary member of the national association of Upper Austria. Vilma Eckel died on June 10,
1982 in Linz.
