BERG WERNER

Elberfeld/Deutschland 1904 - 1981 St. Veit im Jauntal/Kärnten

Werner Berg was born on April 11, 1904 in Elberfeld / Germany. He first completed a trade apprenticeship and then a degree in political science. Art and life united on his mountain farm ( Rutarhof ) in Carinthia,  which formed an inseparable unity for him. The motifs in his works were largely influenced by the everyday farm life.

After numerous exhibitions Werner Berg became a member of the Art Club in Vienna. After participating at the Venice Biennale in 1950, an exhibition in the Austrian Gallery in Vienna, Moderna Galerija Ljubljana, and an exhibition in Munich Lenbachhaus followed. 1968 the Werner Berg Galerie in the city Bleiburg was established and ever since his death it displays his works. Werner Berg died on September 7, 1981 in St. Veit in Jauntal  Carinthia.
